The Decolonization group of KAIROS Prairies North Region welcomes you to attend two online workshops May 3 and 5, designed to help our communities develop or renew our land acknowledgement practices and commitments. (KAIROS Prairies North includes the United Church of Canada as a founding member.) REGISTER HERE: https://bit.ly/3jfkpQD
Leadership: We are honoured to work with Dr Rose Roberts (PhD) and Dr Stryker Calvez (PhD), two Cree and Métis experts who have presented land acknowledgement workshops at the University of Saskatchewan for many years, and created a series of short videos to help others develop and personalize their land acknowledgments to make them meaningful.
This online series will invite us to reflect and act on the role and meaning of land acknowledgements in our personal lives as well as in our faith communities. We hope to connect with one another to consider our relationships with place, land, people and spirit, and to learn how to make our land acknowledgments authentic and genuine.
The workshops will each be 1.5 hours. They will require your active participation as well as a personal commitment (2-3 hours) to learning and self-reflection prior to the first event. This is mandatory ‘homework’ that involves:
*Plan to spend 2 hours for the pre-work. The videos run ~1 hour.
