As the crisis in the middle east continues, here is some information that can help us learn why it’s happening.
The Palestine Land Exercise is on the Move (Saskatchewan)
The Palestine Land Exercise (PLE) is an interactive learning tool that simulates key historical events affecting Palestinians since the late 19th century, where participants embody Palestinian roles to understand land loss, displacement, and the impact of occupation, culminating in talking circles about peace and justice. Using a format similar to the Kairos Blanket Exercise, which explores the relationship between the Indigenous peoples and settlers in Canada, the PLE uses large fabric maps on which many well known historical towns and landmarks are marked, as well as places that we hear about in the news today. The Exercise, along with historical photos, displays and talking circles, provides a forum for participants to become more informed about the situation and to share ideas about working for a just peace. The actual exercise is around an hour, followed a refreshment break and talking circles, making the whole presentation 2.5 – 3 hrs depending on the situation. Maximum registration is 30.
PLE Saskatchewan, is a project of the Palestine/Israel Just Peace Ecumenical Network. Sponsored by LSRC, after PLE pilots and a launch in Regina in 2025, our 2 teams are now looking forward to taking PLE around the province.
