Through your assessments to the national church, Living Skies Region supports Micah Mission through its mission support grants- along with your own generous donations. Micah is “tough on crime- one friendship at a time”, working to bring restorative justice to the prison system, and to the wider community. Their success rate at helping released offenders stay out of a prison and on a path to healing is very, very high, and is the result of hard work by dozens of volunteers and those seeking a different path.
Here are just a few of their 2024 highlights.
We are pleased to share a few highlights from 2024 – an incredible year of restorative practice and meaningful connection in our community!
Last year, thanks to your support:
- 203 Person-to-Person visits took place at the Regional Psychiatric Centre.
- We visited 31 individuals monthly in local federal correctional facilities. Providing 6 of these individuals with faith-based reintegration support upon their release in the community.
- Thanks to the financial support of Mennonite Church Saskatchewan, Saskatchewan Synod ELCIC, and the Living Skies Regional Council we piloted Reintegration Circles – circle-style support for medium and high-risk formerly incarcerated individuals who have not offended sexually but caused other instances of harm.
- Our two circle-based programs (Circles of Support & Accountability and Reintegration Circles) provided 9 individuals with bi-weekly programming in the community.
- 3 individuals successfully graduated from CoSA. The sexual recidivism rate for CoSA program participants has now remained 0% for 6 years!
- Over 50 volunteers actively participated in Micah programs.
Your generosity and dedication to restorative justice have been the cornerstone of our success, and we’re deeply grateful for every contribution that made this possible.
Looking ahead, we are excited about this upcoming year. Together, we can continue to bring hope, healing, and positive change to our community.
As we look forward to 2025, your continued support will help us reach even greater heights. Support our work by volunteering, donating, or sign up to take part in our 2nd Annual Remember Me Fundraising Campaign this spring!
