Three weeks ago the Pacific island nation of Tonga experienced a devastating volcanic eruption. We think especially of the impact on Rev Salesi Takau and Amelia Takau, Abbey-Lancer pastoral charge, and their loved ones. This article details some of the devastation. The United Church is a member of the ACT Alliance, and one of its members, Act for Peace, is raising funds for Tonga. They are in partnership with the Tonga National Council of Churches, of which the Methodist Church of Tonga is a member.
The United Church is inviting the collection of designated funds to support emergency relief efforts in Tonga. The funds will be distributed to TNCC via Act for Peace. If you wish to contribute to the funds, you can send a cheque and we will ensure it gets to Act for Peace. Address:
