SUMMARY:Living Skies sharing and support circle re Sept 4 tragedy
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to a circle of support\, grief\, and sharing on Thursday September 15 from 6:30PM to approximately 8:00PM. The link information is below. Please share this invitation with your community of faith and with all who need it; people do not need to be United Church to attend. We only ask that you not post the Zoom information to social media or other public places; please share it by email only. \nThe extreme violence of Sunday September 4 in the James Smith Cree Nation and Weldon communities will be with us always. It rests with the memories of those lost\, those injured\, the trauma in the affected communities\, and so many questions about causes\, prevention\, and different paths into a future with less violence. \nWhile these questions don’t have answers or solutions\, we know that sitting with trauma and distress\, and supporting one another for the long term\, are key to healing. Our faith also calls us into relationships of love and support\, and living as though all are our family throughout the world. We have the promise that where we gather\, Jesus the Healer is with us. \nAt this circle\, we will share silence\, prayer\, and words with each other. No one will be obliged to speak- simply listening is welcome. And you will have space to speak if you wish. \nThank you in advance the people who will help us hold the space: Darrell Reine\, Regional Council chair will host the circle; Rev Michele Rowe (trauma informed ministry); chaplain Rev Emily Carr; other chaplains and support people to be confirmed. \nTime: Sep 15\, 2022 06:30 PM Saskatchewan \nhttps://united-church.zoom.us/j/83854932861?pwd=eUNMbUNqTkpnUnphb3Z5b3hMYVlBZz09 \nMeeting ID: 838 5493 2861 \nPassword: 819114 \n+1 778 907 2071 Canada \n+1 438 809 7799 Canada \n+1 587 328 1099 Canada \n+1 647 374 4685 Canada \n+1 647 558 0588 Canada \n855 703 8985 Canada Toll-free

SUMMARY:Taste of Palestine 2: traditional food under occupation
DESCRIPTION:Photo by Gatsi\, via Canva. \nEnjoy learning (virtual) hands on about Palestinian traditional food\, and the realities of living and eating under military occupation or blockade. Claire Anastas will be our second host\, on November 2 at 10:30AM. She lives under military occupation on the West Bank and\, we hope\, will come to us live from there. \nPlease register here to get the Zoom link\, which will be sent automatically. Remember to check your email spam folder! \nWhy this event? Fall is harvest time throughout the Northern hemisphere\, and in Palestine and Israel\, the October olive harvest is a deeply important time for community\, culture\, and traditional food for the coming year. But it’s also a time where violence directed at Palestinian farmers spikes to new levels\, as radical Jewish settlers target olive trees and harvesters. The World Council of Churches offers extensive videos and photos in a special project launched last year\, and you can use these freely in your community of faith. \nNew for this year\, and accompanying our Taste events: The Palestine Service for Peace was created by the Saskatchewan and Ontario Taste of Palestine Group\, and compiled and edited by Ineke Medcalf. It’s available on YouTube- use freely in your worship services.

SUMMARY:What Have We Done? Regional service of lament
DESCRIPTION:To be a settler or newcomer Christian in Canada and a member of the United Church is to inherit a legacy that holds the heartbreaking stories of residential schools. Along with doing justice work\, we are called to feel this legacy: to feel the grief\, anguish\, and anger. These are hard feelings that are best borne in community with the Body of Christ. This worship is open to everyone\, with a focus on joining with other grieving settler and newcomer Christians on Sunday\, June 20\, at 7:00pm to lament together. The service will be on Zoom\, but you are most welcome to come together in groups and participate together.\nZoom link:\nhttps://united-church.zoom.us/j/94404739517?pwd=TDF3cy9MQ0NZYVN5SlFBMDl3aUxxdz09\nMeeting ID: 944 0473 9517. SUMMARY:Ministry with Neurodiverse Youth (Practically Prophetic webinars)
DESCRIPTION:Ministry with Youth on the Autism Spectrum\nWednesday\, May 12th\, 2021\n7pm (Online Zoom meeting) \nWe’re constantly searching for new ways to share in Jesus’ ministry with neurodiverse children & young people who experience life on the autism spectrum.   \nRegister: https://form.jotform.com/211086316900246\nDownload Poster/Info: https://livingskiesrc.ca/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/PP-Autism-Youth-Ministry-May-12-21.pdf \nErin Scrivens (B. Ed\, Educational Psychology & Special Education) is a high-school special education teacher and life-long member of the United Church who brings over 20 years of experience working with\, caring for\, and laughing alongside neurodiverse kids.  She’ll answer just about any question we can think of\, and share a wealth of insights\, tips\, and compassionate advice related to autism and similar developmental conditions.    \nQuestions?: contact Kent at KMohn@united-church.ca or 306-221-5529. \nPlease note: at this point\, we’re hoping to Zoom live from a wired-up\, socially-distanced classroom at St. Andrew’s College.  Just let us know if you’re Saskatoon and would like to attend in person.  Of course\, COVID-realities can change anytime\, but we’ll cross our fingers! \n  \n“Practically Prophetic” is a webinar series in Living Skies focused on tools & tips for our UCC ministry together. Think of it as Com-Ed (Community Education) for all: speakers\, presentations\, and panel discussions related to just about anything & everything in the vibrant faith-life of the church.  Oh yeah\, we’re excited that Practically Prophetic is a pretty cool collaboration of Living Skies Region Faith Formation (UCC)\, St. Andrew’s College\, and the Centre for Christian Studies. \n
