Once thought to be a concern only for military veterans and first responders\, the impact of trauma on ‘ordinary’ people is being recognized as we move through a global disaster together. In this session we will explore what constitutes trauma and how it impacts our lives in community.\n\nMichele Rowe previously worked as a Corrections Worker\, in community development in the core of Saskatoon\, and as an educator and curriculum developer in Indigenous and non-Indigenous colleges before Jesus ruined her life in the best possible way and she answered the call to ordered ministry. A lifelong learner\, Michele has completed training related to mental health and addictions recovery and support\, grief and loss recovery\, and trauma support. Stewardship\, however\, is about building relationships. About practicing our faith as a community (even when we aren’t physically together). It is about how we see ourselves\, and how we experience and share the life-shaping value of our communities of faith. \nIs our congregation made up of consumers or disciples? Do we share ourselves with our community of faith with a grateful heart or a grudge? Do we feel good about inviting people to be generous or uncomfortable talking about money? Perhaps we are all these things at different times… \nStewardship is a journey. Spend some time with friends all along the path. Vicki Nelson\, the Stewardship Animator for Western Canada\, will help get our compasses all pointed in the same direction as we gain skills and confidence in talking about faithful generosity. Plus\, she may even share some tips and tricks…it is 2022 after all. \n\nVicki Nelson is a member of the United Church Philanthropy Team\, serving in the role of Stewardship Animator for Western Canada. She works closely with Communities of Faith on congregational giving programs and stewardship education. \nResource Recommendations from Vicki in this webinar:\n1) Stewardship Best Practices (Module 1). This is a 4 week course that teams of 3-5 people from a congregational community of faith can participate in. People should let me know ASAP in they want to participate.\n \n\nThe next opportunity will be starting the week of April 25. But really\, websites are the primary way for churches today to communicate\, connect\, and invite people into a faith community. Not having a website today is like not having a phone. \nThe problem is that most of us are intimidated by idea of developing and maintaining websites for our church communities. That’s why we hired Alicia as a summer student with the Region. Alicia helped to develop a simple\, very inexpensive\, standardized Worspress template for church websites. We want to show it to you. \nSo\, for the first part of the evening\, we’ll talk about general tips & suggestions for church websites. What needs to be there\, what people are looking for\, and a few common mistakes to be avoided. \nThe second part will be an introduction to the pilot project Living Skies Church Website Template. It’s already up and running for a few guinea pig communities of faith in the Region. DESCRIPTION:Rendez-Vous 2020 will be going ahead 11-14 August 2020 – just in a different way. \n2020 is turning out to be a year of the unexpected and that means Rendez-vous 2020 will be a Rendez-vous unlike any other. Due to the ongoing health crisis\, we won’t be able to hold a large gathering in Calgary this summer. It’s up to us to dream together what it means to be a community of faith\, even if we can’t all be in the same (physical) space. \nOnline registration is now open! Registration is free of charge\, but helps us keep track of participants and provide secure access to online activities and resources. \nThrough real-time online events\, recordings\, and DIY workshop kits\, we will celebrate bold faith\, brave space and brazen grace.
