SUMMARY:CANCELLED - ICM Final Celebration and silent bids
DESCRIPTION:Due to COVID19 concerns\, this event has been cancelled. \nIntegrated Community Ministries (ICM) Saskatoon gives core neighbourhood artists 10×10 canvases and they return them to ICM painted. ICM displays them in numerous Churches\, where silent bidding begins and then hangs them at SCYAP for public viewing and bidding. Finally they are taken to Station 20 west for the Final Celebration. The Final Celebration is an evening Gala where the canvases are once again displayed and final bids are taken until 8:30pm. There will be core community musicians and dancers performing\, artists sharing their stories of how art impacts their lives and a light lunch will be served. You are invited to join us for the Gala evening.

SUMMARY:Stand by Me: Palestinian Children and Military Detention – A workshop
DESCRIPTION:Palestinian families live in constant awareness that Israeli soldiers could invade their house at any hour of the day or night and take a child away – often for arbitrary reasons and for an unknown length of time. Every year an average of 700 Palestinian children are arrested\, mistreated\, detained and prosecuted in Israel’s military court system. According Defense for Children International Palestine (a United Church partner in mission). Israel is the only country in the world that systematically prosecutes children in military courts. To learn more about the day-to-day reality of the children and their families\, plan to join this 90-minute online workshop. Register on Eventbrite. \nThe workshop is being hosted by CFOS (Canadian Friends of Sabeel)\, CJPME:Okanagan and PalNet Pacific. SUMMARY:Contemplative Arts Festival of Saskatoon
DESCRIPTION:Grosvenor Park United Church (pr. Grow-v’nor) is pleased to announce that the second Contemplative Arts Festival of Saskatoon will be held from June 1 to 4\, 2023. Following a successful inaugural event in 2019\, the church will once again sponsor three and a half days of arts programming and conversation meant to encourage deep connection and self-expression. Everyone’s welcome! \n“We’re thrilled to bring back this unique event\,” says Brenda Baker\, chair of the festival. “Our first festival was well attended\, with great reviews. This tells us people are looking for the chance to connect with one another and with their spiritual selves in meaningful ways.” \nWhile the Contemplative Arts Festival is largely a free event\, there’s limited space for certain workshops\, such as birchbark basket making\, breadmaking\, and painting. Therefore\, nominal advance registration fees are necessary. There are plenty of drop-in opportunities as well\, for such activities as working with clay\, Zentangle drawing\, and origami. There’ll be an installation entitled Ribbon Skirts: A Sacred Journey\, which explores the spiritual practices involved in creating these beautiful Indigenous items. And throughout the schedule there’ll be live music\, panel discussions\, and ongoing vocal workshops with our artist-in-residence\, Stephanie Tillman. \nOur website – ContemplativeArtsFestival.ca – contains bios for over twenty artists and presenters\, along with a schedule jam-packed with interesting\, contemplative activities. Although we may not really get going until the fall\, we’d like start the journey now. Join us on Wednesday\, June 14 (2:00 – 4:00 or 7:00-9:00\, whichever works best for you) to explore what we might do together\, how and when we’d like to get together\, and to discuss ideas and questions.
