DESCRIPTION:Our Sacred Responsibilities: learning from the Unmarked Burials report and challenging settler denial. \nAll people of all backgrounds welcome to this day-long learning gathering\, open to Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. We will focus somewhat on the United Church’s responsibilities\, but all backgrounds are welcome as a full part of the day\, and we will not focus only on the United Church. \nTogether we will learn about the recent report on unmarked burials; explore what reparations means; learn about the problem of settler denialism; and practice together how to challenge it. Speakers and knowledge keepers will help us\, and all who come are full participants in helping each other and our communities create a good path forward. \nCommunity\, prayer\, ceremony\, and cultural supports will be part of our day. A separate support space is also available to First Nations\, Métis and Inuit\, respecting that this is a hard topic. \nPractical details\nPlease click here to register. DESCRIPTION:MultiFaith Saskatchewan and Eastside United Church host the screening of this important documentary which tells the story of an ill fated experiment in the Peepeekisis Cree Nations over 100 years ago.  The then self serving Indian Agent developed a scheme to create the File Hills Farm Colony and recruited young people from other indigenous nations to work in this colony.  His experiment failed and the consequences of the project created divisions in the Peepeekisis community that linger to this day although the people there work to overcome the division. The documentary is produce by Birdsong and is written and directed by Mark Dieter.

Five facilitators led by Iris Acoose from Yorkton Tribal Council will help us understand colonization from the indigenous perspective. The morning session (9:30 to 11:30) will have 35 grades 9 and 10 students from Wolseley and Broadview High Schools and up to 15 adults. The afternoon session (12:30 to 2:30) will have 46 grade 7 to 9 students from Wolseley and a limited number of adults.

Dr. Ohwang Kwon\, and Dr. Don Schweitzer\, explores the meaning of Jesus for Koreans in the United Church of Canada\, and in the Canadian context. The authors discuss the marginality that Koreans experience in Canada and also examines how Jesus enables Koreans to withstand this\, and live prophetically in their liminal situation.
