SUMMARY:Annual Gathering of United Network for Justice and Peace in Palestine and Israel (UNJPPI)
DESCRIPTION:In line with our United Church call to ‘Bold Discipleship\, Deep Spirituality\, Daring Justice’\, the theme of this year’s UNJPPI Gathering is “Responding to a Cry for Hope”. That is the Call which was issued in 2019 by Kairos Palestine and Palestinian Christians. \nThe UNJPPI Gathering will be in London\, Ontario from May 6 to 8\, with a community event at King’s College on May 5. \nWorking in the spirit of decolonization\, most of our leadership will be Palestinian as we try to decolonize our work and listen to Palestinians talk to us out of their experience. They include:\n• Yara Shufani – a Palestinian Canadian on “Unity Uprisings 2021 – A Year Later”\n• Shadia Qubti – whose home is Nazareth and who has been studying in Canada since 2020. “Peace-building beyond dipping humus”.\n• Amal Alhaddad – who lives in Victoria and has recently emigrated from Gaza.\n• Rev. Dr. Munther Isaac\, from Bethlehem\, in via technology speaking on “Jesus’ call to be peace-builders”\n• Dr. Gabor Mate will also address our gathering by zoom on “Would you rather be illusioned or see things as they really are”.\n• Mariam Barghouti – a journalist from Ramallah on “What is happening right now? How voices of Palestinians are being silenced”. \nWe will learn together from what our resource people have to say as well as each participant\, as we share our experiences\, insights and understanding. \nWe hope to be encouraged and re-vitalized in our support of human rights for Palestinians and justice and peace for Israelis and Palestinians. \nFor more information\, check the Gathering website at unjppi.ca or email George Bartlett at g.bartlett@sympatico.ca.

DESCRIPTION:Decolonizing Ourselves: Healing Haunted Histories gathering \nMuskeg Lake Cree Nation SK\, 27 August 2022\, 1:00PM- 5:00PM\, followed by community meal\, and optional overnight camping. \nCome for a day on the land\, exploring paths to decolonizing through landlines\, songlines\, and bloodlines.  Elders and knowledge keepers Harry and Germaine Lafond; and authors\, teachers and theologians Elaine Enns\, and Ched Myers will guide us. Overnight camping the evening of Aug 27 available. Info and registration here. More details will be sent following registration. \nLocation: Muskeg Lake Cree Nation\, maskêko sâkahikanihk\, approximately 5 hours’ drive from Edmonton\, 4 hours from Regina\, 1.5 hours from Saskatoon. \nCost: $50\, dinner included\, camping extra. DESCRIPTION:Join us December 7th at 6:00 pm for an opportunity to learn more about Rural Connect and how it uses cellular or Ethernet connection to allow shared\, interactive worship between congregations that can be hundreds of kilometers from each other. DESCRIPTION:All people involved and interested in United Churches in Regina and Area are invited to come together for a discussion of how we can collaborate to live more deeply into the United Church of Canada Call & Vision of Deep Spirituality\, Bold Discipleship\, Daring Justice. \nPlease pre-register – https://forms.gle/R7WBVUp6WnGFXzu36 \nWe will hear from United Church of Canada General Secretary\, Michael Blair about his vision of a growing denomination\, and how he sees this Call impacting local congregations. \nFollowing Michael’s talk we will discuss places we see Deep Spirituality\, Bold Discipleship and Daring Justice unfolding in our communities.  We will also have facilitated small group conversations on topics like refugee sponsorship\, houselessness and food insecurity\, children and youth ministry\, shared worship and community building\, and exploring spirituality practices\, and how we see the call unfolding in these and other areas. \nAll are welcome\, but we ask that you register so we have a sense of numbers.  If you have an idea for a small group topic let us know. \nThis event is brought to you by the Regina & Area Cluster.

SUMMARY:Palestine Land Exercise @ Lafleche United Church
DESCRIPTION:Lafleche is hosting the Palestine Land Exercise on Saturday\, March 21st from 1-4 PM. The Palestine Land Exercise is an experiential learning activity of 2 and a half hours overall with a snack break included. It’s designed for 25 to 30 participants that sit around a large fabric map and unveil the story of Palestine starting from the time the British were there to the present time. The story progresses through cards that participants read aloud. At the end of the exercise\, there will be a talking circle where it will be possible to ask questions and express one’s impressions of the activity. The final topic is “What do we do next?” and a power point will be shown to conclude the exercise. To reserve your spot\, please call Judy Reiman (306-648-8270) or Beth Tallon (306-472-7816). Cost is $10/participant to cover the cost of mileage for our presenters.
