Scan the QR Code or contact us to purchase tickets for $30! eastsideunited@sasktel.net or 306-761-0556. \nSinger-songwriter pianist Jeffery Straker serves up a rootsy-storytelling brand of song that has been said to transport listeners – out onto a northern Canadian Lake or to the main street of a prairie town. \nWith critical comparisons to the likes of Kris Kristofferson\, Jackson Browne and Murray McLauchlan\, he was awarded the 2025 Canadian Folk Music Award for ‘Contemporary Canadian Folk Singer of the Year’. Back at home in Saskatchewan he’s twice been named ‘Roots-Folk Artist of the Year’. \nStraker released his ninth recording “Great Big Sky” in 2024 – steeped with themes of the Canadian prairies. AmericanaUK praised it saying “With emotional and sonic depth\, this is an album we’d thoroughly recommend”. Some additional unexpected praise came in the form of royal recognition from His Majesty King Charles III who was moved by a song on the album after it made its way into Buckingham Palace. The King’s message to Straker made the national news. \nPerformances of the new recording have taken Jeffery to listeners across Canada (including shows inside prairie grain elevators!) and he was also chosen to represent the nation in a week-long residency performing in Osaka Japan at Expo 2025. \nWherever he performs his audience connections are stand-out and CBC Radio has said: “He has a way of drawing us into his world and making us feel like we’re an old friend he’s ready to catch up with”.

SUMMARY:Rekindling Hope: Reimagining Being and Doing Church in a Changing World
DESCRIPTION:Living Skies Regional Council invites you to a meaningful  day together\, designed to refresh your spirit and be reminded that you do not do this work alone!  This is a continuing series of gatherings that will move throughout the Regional Council. All are welcome; we especially invite people in the Kindersley/ west-central area to come. \nBeginning at 10am on Saturday\, October 3\, connect with others\, worship together\, and take part in engaging workshops that equip and encourage.   Grounded in the theme Toward 2035\, we will dream and discern together for the church we are being called to become in the years ahead.   Whether you’re seeking inspiration\, practical tools\, or new resources for church leadership\, this weekend offers space to grow\, listen\, and be renewed together. Bring a group from your congregation or come and make some new friends! \nParticipation in Saturday’s event is free\, although there will be a free-will offering for lunch.  Here is a poster to help with publicity.  Mileage reimbursement is available for travel.   The draft agenda for the day is also available. \nMeal and community time Saturday evening\, beginning at 6:00pm. This is an additional time of gathering and fellowship\, with details to come.
